Servings: 8-10 people
Ingredients
- 4 eggs
- 150g granulated sugar
- 100g all-purpose flour
- 30g cocoa powder
- 5g baking powder
- 2g salt
- 5ml vanilla extract
- 250ml whipped cream (for filling)
- Additional whipped cream, powdered sugar, and decorations for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F) and grease a jelly roll pan or baking sheet.
- In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together until they become light and fluffy.
- Sift the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt into the egg and sugar mixture. Gently fold them together until fully combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Stir in the vanilla extract and make sure the batter is well blended. Pour the batter into the greased pan, spreading it evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes or until the cake springs back when touched. Keep an eye on it, as baking times may vary.
- While the cake is still warm, carefully roll it up jelly-roll style using a clean kitchen towel. This will help the cake keep its shape. Allow the rolled cake to cool completely.
Once cooled, you can gently unroll the cake, spread the whipped cream evenly over the surface, and then roll it up again, this time without the towel. Place the Yule Log Cake on a serving platter or plate, and if desired, decorate it with additional whipped cream, powdered sugar, or festive decorations.
For a better taste, chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving. Slice and enjoy!
